Pastor Austin preached from 2 Samuel 13–14 in a sermon titled “The King’s Fractured Family.” Through the brokenness of David’s family, the message showed how sin can bring pain and division, while also teaching us important lessons about how we live and why we do what we do.
The sermon focused on three lessons. First, sin has consequences. David’s family experienced the painful effects of sin and broken relationships. Second, the lesson of example reminds us that our actions influence those around us, especially those closest to us. Lastly, the lesson of motive challenges us to examine our hearts and consider why we do what we do.
This message reminds us that sin always carries consequences, our lives are an example to others, and God cares about the motives of our hearts. In the brokenness of David’s family, we are reminded of our need for God’s grace, forgiveness, and restoration.
