Pastor Austin preached from 1 Samuel 21–23 in a sermon titled “The Greater Anointed One.” Through David’s life, the church was reminded that David points us to Jesus, the true and greater Anointed King. While David cared for and protected his people, Jesus fulfills these truths in a far greater way through His life, death, and resurrection.
The sermon highlighted two ways Jesus is the Greater Anointed One. First, the Greater Anointed One satisfies His people. Pastor Austin explained that while the world can never truly satisfy, Jesus alone provides lasting hope, peace, and life for all who trust in Him. Second, the Greater Anointed One saves His people. Just as David rescued God's people from their enemies, Jesus came to save us from our greatest enemies—sin and death—through His finished work on the cross.
This message encouraged the church to look to Jesus as the true King who alone satisfies every need and offers eternal salvation to all who believe in Him.
