1 Samuel 16
God has provided a King

Pastor Austin preached from 1 Samuel 16 in a sermon titled “God Has Provided a King,” pointing the church to God’s sovereign provision and His perfect plan of redemption. As God rejected Saul and chose David to be Israel’s next king, the message demonstrated that God sees beyond outward appearances and faithfully provides the leader His people truly need.

The sermon highlighted two kings God has provided. First, God has provided for Himself a king in David. Though David was the unlikely choice in the eyes of man, God chose him because of his heart. Pastor Austin emphasized that God’s purposes are accomplished not through human strength or status, but through His sovereign calling and grace. David’s anointing served as a reminder that God’s plans are always greater than human expectations.

Second, God has provided for Himself a King in Jesus. While David was a faithful shepherd who would become Israel’s king, he ultimately pointed forward to the greater King who was to come. Jesus Christ, the promised Son of David, is the perfect and eternal King who reigns in righteousness and brings salvation to all who trust in Him. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Christ fulfilled God’s redemptive plan and established a kingdom that will never end.

This message encouraged believers to place their confidence in God’s perfect provision, trust in His sovereign purposes, and joyfully submit to the reign of Jesus Christ—the true and greater King whom God has provided for His people.
